Mesa State Assistant Volleyball Coach
Maggie Chlebana begins her fourth season as the assistant women’s volleyball coach at Mesa State College and 3rd season as CO Thunder Director and Head Coach.
A graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Chlebana was a three year letterwinner for the Bears. Coach Chlebana started as a defensive specialist for the Bears her junior and senior years, but began her volleyball career as a setter. She was one of two players to play in all 119 games for the season and registered a career high of 17 digs against Texas A&M. She was fourth on the team in digs and service aces. She will be training the setters as well as coordinating the Mavericks offense.
Chlebana has four years of coaching experience at the club and high school level and has recently started a local youth volleyball club, Colorado Thunder. Coaching runs in the Chlebana family, her mother coaches both club and college volleyball in Houston, Texas, and her older sister coaches at California State University of Sacramento.
She enjoys being a part of the Mesa State community and assists in the summer months, along with Coach Fleming, coordinating and instructing in the Mavericks summer volleyball camps.
Chlebana graduated from Baylor University in December 2006 with a degree in Psychology. She is originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She received a personal invitation to try out for the Canadian Junior National team as a setter while attending high school.
